Friday, November 11th, 2011 is Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day is an important memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty since World War I. November 11 is the day which represents the official end of World War I in 1918; On that day, hostilities formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. Thus the other common name for this day is Armistice Day which marks the date and time when armies in general stop fighting.

We wish you a happy Remembrance Day.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
